- Description
- Ave Maria (Ellens Gesang III, D839, Op. 52 No. 6), composed in 1825 by Franz Schubert. The piece was composed as part of a song from Walter Scott's epic poem "The Lady of the Lake," in a German translation by Adam Storck (1780-1822), and thus forms part of Schubert's song cycle for The Lady of the Lake, "Fräulein vom See."
The arrangement is by Welligton Sousa, for String Orchestra and solo (in various transpositions) in the original key: B-flat. The arranger chose to write the orchestra arrangement in the original key of B-flat, considering it to be the best adaptation for the voice, allowing the singer to rehearse individually with a piano. Additionally, there was a rhythmic adaptation, replacing sixteenth notes with eighth notes in a 12/8 time signature, which will facilitate reading for the musicians. This beautiful rendition is also touchable by a string quartet. Moreover, this arrangement proves to be an excellent choice for various occasions, including Easter, Mother's Day, Christmas, weddings, and other religious events. Its evocative and timeless qualities make it a versatile and enchanting addition to concerts celebrating significant moments and traditions.
